Abstract | Building Information Modeling (BIM) constitutes a methodology for the digital and collaborative planning of construction projects. The integration of multiple domain experts necessitates systematic coordination in order to reduce inconsistencies and mitigate planning errors. Beyond its traditional role in design, BIM data serves as a foundational resource for a variety of advanced applications in the construction domain. These include augmented reality technologies to support assembly, automated progress monitoring of construction processes, the generation of training datasets for artificial intelligence, as well as navigation frameworks for robotic systems. This lecture will outline the fundamental principles of BIM and examine selected application scenarios and interface concepts from a German perspective. The objective is to demonstrate how BIM data can be systematically leveraged to enhance construction execution and foster innovation in digital construction processes. |
